Unions call one-day strike at Spanish utility Iberdrola on June 19

    June 1 (Reuters) - Trade unions UGT and CCOO at Spanish utility company Iberdrola IBE.MC on Monday called a nationwide strike on June 19 over their demands that salaries be pegged to inflation. 
About 9,000 workers have been called to walk out to pressure the company into accepting the unions' demands in a new collective bargaining agreement.
The two unions are asking for inflation-linked salary reviews and fewer working hours, among other demands.

        It would be the second nationwide strike in the company's history, following 
        last year's stoppage
         over pay.
      

        UGT representatives said Iberdrola workers' salaries had fallen 19% in real terms over the past five years.
      
Iberdrola did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
