Lithuanian LNG terminal allocates 71% capacity for 2033-2044

Lithuanian LNG terminal allocates 71% capacity for 2033-2044

- Five companies have booked around 71% of the regasification capacity offered at Lithuania's Klaipeda liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal for the period 2033-2044, operator KN Energies said on Wednesday.

  • KN Energies offered 28 terawatt hours (TWh) of regasification capacity, divided into 4 TWh packages per year and options for eight or 12 consecutive years.

  • It allocated 20 TWh, with 8 TWh until 2044 inclusive and a further 12 TWh until 2040.

  • Capacity was booked by five customers: Lithuania's Ignitis, Latvia's Latvenergo, Norway's Equinor, as well as new terminal customers Gasum of Finland and Ukraine's Naftogaz.

  • "This is a clear signal of trust in Lithuania’s energy infrastructure and of the terminal’s expanding role from the Baltic region to Northern Europe and Ukraine," said Minister of Energy Zygimantas Vaiciunas.

  • Unallocated capacities may be offered through repeated long-term capacity booking and annual capacity allocation procedures for each year separately.

  • One conventional-size LNG cargo corresponds to approximately 1 TWh
