Macquarie Asset Management to buy IHS Holding's South American tower assets

Feb 17 (Reuters) - Australia's Macquarie Group's MQG.AX unit said on Tuesday it will acquire the South American wireless tower operations of IHS Holding 4JB.F for an enterprise value of $685 million.

Under the agreement, Macquarie Asset Management will acquire over 8,500 sites in Brazil and 270 sites in Colombia, all owned by IHS Mauritius BR Limited, a part of IHS Holding (IHS Towers).

The sale will mark IHS Towers' exit from the Latam region, said Sam Darwish, chairman and CEO, IHS Towers.

Meanwhile, Macquarie Asset Management said the deal will expand its infrastructure portfolio in Brazil and Colombia, and anticipates further investment in wireless and digital infrastructure in both countries to support 5G network buildout over the next several years.

The company's portfolio in the region already includes digital infrastructure, waste management, transportation and green energy sectors.

The transaction is expected to close later in 2026, subject to certain conditions, the company said.
