Illumina to expand children's genetic disease research with new partnership, shares rise

** Shares of Illumina ILMN.O rise 2% to $129.51 in early trading

** Co says it has partnered with D3b to study childhood cancers and rare diseases, conditions caused by genetic changes that can trigger tumors or serious lifelong illness

** Says the effort will analyze 100,000 whole genomes from children using Illumina's software, creating one of the largest pediatric genetic datasets

** Says the data will be shared through a national platform, letting doctors compare cases, improve diagnosis and tailor treatments across 200+ U.S. pediatric centers

** New tools can spot genetic changes older technology may have missed, helping children get the right care faster, co says
