Zara launches two-year collaboration with designer John Galliano

LONDON, March 17 (Reuters) - Zara has announced a two-year collaboration with former Dior and Maison Margiela designer John Galliano, as owner Inditex works to boost the fast fashion retailer's design credentials.

Galliano will "re-author" Zara's archives with "a series of seasonal collections", Zara said in a statement

The 65-year-old British designer is one of the most revered in the fashion industry, with 14 years as Dior's creative director followed by a decade at Maison Margiela

"Mr Galliano will be working directly with garments from Zara’s past seasons, deconstructing and reconfiguring them into new seasonal expressions and creations," Zara said

Galliano's first collection for Zara will be released in September

The partnership comes as Inditex tries to boost Zara's sales after the pace of growth slowed somewhat, though it is still running ahead of rivals such as H&M

Zara sales hit 28.051 billion euros in its 2025 financial year, up 1% from 27.778 billion euros in 2024, according to Inditex results published last week

Zara has previously released clothing collections with fashion celebrities including supermodel Kate Moss and photographer Steven Meisel
