** Intercept Pharmaceuticals Inc's ICPT.O shares put on
trading halt before a U.S. FDA advisory committee meeting on
Friday
** The meeting is discussing ICPT's oral tablets, called
obeticholic acid (OCA), for treating a type of fatty liver
disease
** The FDA's staff reviewers on Wednesday listed increased
risk of sludge formation in the gall bladder, and imbalance of
certain lipids, as some of the risks with the drug for treating
nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)
** OCA was approved in 2016 under brand name Ocaliva for
treating a type of chronic liver disease, but the FDA restricted
its usage in 2021 in patients with severe cirrhosis due to
serious liver injury risks
** As of last close, ICPT shares up 10% YTD
