ECONOMY
The Italian government intends to scrutinise the potential
sale of a refinery owned by Russia's Lukoil LKOH.MM in Sicily
to prevent job cuts and the loss of fuel production for the
country, Industry Minister Aldo Urso said on Sunday.
DEBT
Treasury announces sale of 12-month BOT bills, with relative
amounts to be auctioned on Nov. 10.

TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) TLIT.MI
The phone group's top investor Vivendi VIV.PA is calling
for Italian telecoms lobby head Massimo Sarmi to be appointed to
fill a vacant seat on the former phone monopoly's board, two
sources with knowledge of the matter said on Friday.

VIV.PA is keen to start talks with Italy's new right-wing
government on a new planto create a national broadband company,
people close to the French media conglomerate said on Sunday.
A plan by Italy's new government to get the control of TIM's
network could envisage the launch of a takeover offer on the
phone company by Italian state lender CDP together with Vivendi
and international investment funds, daily La Stampa said on
Sunday.

Italy's new government will expand concessions to drill for
gas in the Adriatic, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on
Friday, in a drive to double Rome's output to 6 billion cubic
metres per year and lower energy prices for firms.
"As soon as we acquire all the details of the measure
announced by the government, we will assess the amount of gas
production we can make available between the Adriatic and the
Strait of Sicily," Eni sources said during the weekend.
INTESA SANPAOLO ISP.MI
Italy's biggest bank on Friday said its 2022 profit would be
at the upper end of the range it had previously provided, after
it beat forecasts with its third-quarter earnings and sharply
cut exposure to Russia in the period.
BPER BANCA EMII.MI , BANCA CARIGE
BPER shareholders on Saturday approved the merger of Banca
Carige and Banca del Monte di Lucca into BPER Banca, the bank
said in a statement after Saturday's shareholders' meeting.
An agreement for the merger between BPER bank and Carige was
signed on Friday night between the lender and labour unions,
FABI union said on Saturday.

Asked about a possible interest of BPER Banca in a merger
with Monte dei Paschi di Siena, the CEO of the Modena-based
lender said that the bank has no preclusions towards anything,
but that the priorities at the moment are other, ANSA newswire
reported on Saturday.

Banco BPM is currently the favourite candidate for a
possible merger with Monte dei Paschi, Milano Finanza reported
on Saturday citing financial sources.

The pension fund of engineers and architects and several
banking foundations aim to have a total stake in the Milanese
bank of 10%, Il Messaggero reported on Saturday.

Italy's biggest utility and Israel's Brenmiller Energy
BNRG.TA have teamed up to build a rock-based storage system in
Tuscany as they test new technologies to increase flexibility in
the use of renewable energy.
POSTE ITALIANE PST.MI
Italy's antitrust watchdog fined the Italian postal service
provider 1.4 million euros for the placement of postal notes, it
said on Friday.
