    POLITICS
    Italy's government said on Tuesday fiscal incentives for
home renovations had had a "devastating" impact on public
finances over the last four years and were to blame for the
expected rise in the country's massive public debt through 2026.
    The take-up of the incentives had hit 219 billion euros
($238.1 billion), Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said. 
       
    ECONOMY
    ISTAT releases February retail sales data (0800 GMT).
    Bank of Italy releases February data on Italian residents
deposits with domestic banks, bank lending to non-financial
companies and gross bad loans at Italian banks.

    Treasury sells 8.0 billion euros 12-month BOT bills.

    At least three people have died and four are missing after a
fire and explosion underground at a hydroelectric power plant
managed by the energy group's unit Enel Green Power, in northern
Italy on Tuesday, the local mayor said.

    Italy trusts it will be able to strike alliances for the
bailed-out bank this year, the economy minister said on Tuesday.
   
    
    TELECOM ITALIA (TIM)  TLIT.MI  
    The sale of the phone group's network is the only
"realistic" option for the group, as it grants the survival of
the phone company, Italy's economy minister said on Tuesday.
