POLITICS
Italy's government gave final approval on Wednesday to the construction of what will be the world's longest single-span bridge, linking Sicily to the mainland, despite environmental, financial and other concerns that have delayed it for decades.
ECONOMY
Bank of Italy releases July data on Target 2 liabilities and European Central Bank funding to Italian banks.

INTERPUMP ITPG.MI
The Italian high-pressure pump maker on Wednesday reported a 6% increase in its second-quarter core profit (EBITDA) compared with a year ago, helped by growth in its water-jetting division. The company also re-affirmed its forecasts for the current year.
IVECO IVG.MI
The Italian government will monitor the sale of the truckmaker to Indian group Tata Motors TAMO.NS to make sure the company's jobs, manufacturing footprint and local know-how are preserved in Italy, the industry minister said on Wednesday.
GENERALI GASI.MI
Italy's top insurer said on Wednesday it would continue to assess Mediobanca's MDBI.MI bid to buy Banca Generali BGN.MI, as well as a revised distribution agreement with the private bank which is a key part of the offer.
JUVENTUS JUVE.MI
Italy's top-flight soccer club said it signed Timothy Tarpeh Weah to Olympique Marseille on a temporary deal until 30 June 2026 for 1 million euros. The deal also includes an obligation for Marseille to acquire the player on a permanent basis upon the occurrence of certain conditions for an agreed fee of 14.4 million euros.
MEDIOBANCA MDBI.MI
Italy's investment bank called its shareholders meeting for August 21. Mediobanca said it reviewed Generali's GASI.MI willingness for strategic partnership.
