Invinity Delivers Europe's Largest Vanadium Flow Battery
Flagship project hits next milestone ahead of connection to GB grid
Invinity Energy Systems plc (AIM: IES), a leading global manufacturer of utility-grade energy storage, is pleased to confirm that delivery of a 20.7 MWh Vanadium Flow Battery system has now been completed at the Copwood VFB Energy Hub ahead of the project connecting to the grid and commencing operation later this year.
Invinity's battery system, which has a capacity roughly equivalent to the daily electricity requirement of 3,000 homes, is paired with a 3 MWp solar array at the site in East Sussex, UK and once operational, will be Europe's largest vanadium flow battery and a UK-first of a kind at this scale.
At a time when national energy security remains a key consideration globally, this project aims to demonstrate how Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) in the form of Invinity's Vanadium Flow Batteries, can help unlock more low-cost, home-grown renewable energy for the grid and reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels such as natural gas. The project will act as a flagship demonstration project in the UK with an announcement expected shortly on Ofgem's LDES Cap and Floor scheme which could see similar projects rolled out nationwide.
The Company expects the project to connect to the grid and begin generating revenue before the end of this year, subject to final confirmation from the local Distribution Network Operator. Details of a site open day for shareholders and prospective customers will be communicated in due course.

Stuart Nivison, Head of Portfolio Management, National Wealth Fund said:
"Invinity's progress at the Copwood VFB Energy Hub demonstrates how targeted public investment can accelerate the manufacturing of new technology, support the transition to clean power, boost energy security and create skilled jobs in the UK."
Jonathan Marren, Chief Executive Officer at Invinity said:
"This project is about far more than a single battery system - it is proof that Britain can build the infrastructure needed to transform the country into a clean energy superpower.
"If we are serious about delivering a power system dominated by renewables, we must stop wasting the energy we work so hard to generate. Long-duration storage is the missing piece that turns intermittent wind and solar into reliable, on-demand power.
"By building Europe's largest vanadium flow battery here in Britain, and manufacturing it in Scotland, we're showing that the clean energy transition can strengthen our energy security, cut system costs and create skilled industrial jobs at home."
