key members of staff, the Secretary of State charged and discharged an
Invinity battery system connected to the Scottish electricity grid and learned
about its key safety and low noise characteristics. The Secretary also took
the opportunity to learn how these vanadium flow batteries offer a scalable,
UK-made solution to reliably and affordably store renewable energy for use on
demand.

Secretary of State for Scotland, Douglas Alexander said:
"It was great to visit Invinity in Bathgate to meet their workers. The
facility shows how Scotland is at the forefront of delivering the
infrastructure to help bring energy bills down, while creating high-quality
green energy jobs. Energy storage is essential to allow us to fully utilise
Scotland's offshore wind resources and cut bills by building a more efficient,
resilient grid."
Neil O'Brien, Non-Executive Chair at Invinity said:
"We were pleased to welcome the Secretary of State to our Bathgate facility
and demonstrate how Invinity's Scottish-built technology supports a more
efficient and affordable energy system. By enabling renewable power to be
stored and used when it is needed most, long-duration energy storage plays a
vital role in reducing energy system costs and protecting consumers from
volatile energy prices. We are proud that our work in Scotland is supporting
UK energy security, high-quality clean energy jobs, and the export of British
clean-energy technology worldwide."
