Wall Street's main indexes struggled for direction on Wednesday in the absence
of any major catalysts to keep up the optimism around potential rate cuts by the
Federal Reserve that briefly drove the S&P 500 close to an all-time high.  .N 
    
    At 13:38 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was up 0.23% at
37,633.52. The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 0.14% at 4,781.26 and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was up 0.20% at 15,104.77.
