ISTAT releases July consumer and business confidence data (0800 GMT).
DEBT
(*) The Treasury said on Thursday it would sell 6.5 billion euros in six-month BOT bill at auction on July 29.
On Friday the Treasury will announce the sale of BTP and CCTeu bonds, with relative amounts to be auctioned on July 30.

Italy's second-largest bank will launch on Friday the first tranche of its residual 2024 share buyback, worth 1.8 billion euros out of a total planned 3.6 billion euros.

Italy's fourth-largest bank said on Thursday it had crossed the 66.67% threshold of Banca Popolare di Sondrio's share capital. The full voluntary takeover offer ends on Friday.

(*) The energy group said on Friday its second-quarter earnings fell 25% year on year as lower oil price, refining margins and a weaker dollar overshadowed a better than expected performance of its gas business.
The oil major said on Thursday its board approved the distribution of a first tranche of the 2025 dividend, amounting to 0.26 euros per share out of a total planned 1.05 euros.
TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) TLIT.MI
EU antitrust regulators will investigate whether U.S. investment firm KKR KKR.N provided incorrect or misleading information in its 22 billion euro acquisition of Telecom Italia's (TIM) fixed-line network deal, the European Commission said on Thursday.

Luxembourg-based GovSat, a public-private joint venture between the government of Luxembourg and satellite operator SES, signed a contract with Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales and Leonardo, for the supply of a new defence geostationary communications satellite, GovSat-2, Thales Alenia Space said on Thursday.

The group will participate in upcoming auctions, both for renewable energy plants and for batteries, and is also waiting for auctions for hydroelectric energy storage systems, the company's Chief Executive Nicola Monti said in an interview to la Repubblica published on Friday.

The rocket maker is in talks with the U.S. government to conduct space launches from Wallops Island in Virginia, Bloomberg reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter. Launching from Virginia would help the Italian group conduct more flights and testing as it develops technology for the Vega class of rockets.
STMICROELECTRONICS STMMI.MI
The French-Italian chipmaker closed down 16.6% after reporting a second-quarter loss on Thursday, its first loss in more than a decade, falling short of market expectations as it took a $190-million hit for restructuring and impairment costs.
(*) The group said on Thursday it would acquire part of NXP Semiconductors' NXPI.O sensor unit for up to $950 million in cash. The deal would expand STMicro's portfolio of MEMS-based electromechanical sensors, which include safety and monitoring sensors for vehicles as well as pressure sensors for industrial applications.

The Italian construction group said on Thursday its unit Lane won a $238 million contract to improve section of Florida's Interstate-75.
(*) The group said on Friday it confirmed its guidance for 2025, after reporting a 22% year-on-year rise in first-half revenues and a 38% increase in core profit in the same period.

Carrefour CARR.PA, Europe's biggest food retailer, has agreed to sell its loss-making business in Italy to the Italian food and drinks manufacturer as part of a strategic review kicked off earlier this year, it said on Thursday.
(*) After diversifying its portfolio, the group is looking at different companies that are complementary to its core business, like ones in food packaging, President Angelo Mastrolia told La Stampa in an interview published on Friday.
He added that the group first plans to strengthen its presence in regions where Carrefour already has a strong foothold and will then consider expanding into new areas.

NUO Capital has crossed the 95% threshold in the Italian coffee pot maker's capital, paving the way for the company’s delisting, it said on Thursday.

The healthcare technology group's majority shareholder FM said on Thursday it was in talks to assess strategic partnerships involving the company. FM added in a statement that options include a potential offer to take the company private.
