Europe's largest film studio Cinecitta is aiming to re-launch Italy as a movie powerhouse, even as U.S. President Donald Trump's proposed tariffs on foreign productions cast a shadow over the film industry globally.
Should President Donald Trump confirm plans to double tariffs on imported steel and aluminium, Italy's steel exports to the U.S., though a small percentage of the total, will fall dramatically or "almost disappear", the head of the steelmakers industry body FederAcciai Antonio Gozzi told Corriere della Sera in an interview published on Sunday.
GENERAL
More than 500 people were arrested by police during the Champions League final celebrations in France, and two people were reported dead and 192 injured, the interior ministry said on Sunday.

The Tuscan lender is considering lowering the minimum take-up threshold required in its bid for merchant bank Mediobanca to 51% from the 66.7% it set out in January, daily la Repubblica wrote on Saturday, citing financial sources.
A source close to the matter confirmed this was a possibility being considered.
The supervisory assessment to clear the bid normally includes a range of take-up scenarios to which the regulator could attach different conditions, a second person familiar with the process said.
MEDIOBANCA, BANCA GENERALI BGN.MI
Proxy advisor PIRC said on Friday it recommended Mediobanca's shareholders to vote in favour of the investment bank's takeover bid for Banca Generali at the shareholders' meeting on June 16.
BPER BANCA EMII.MI, POPOLARE SONDRIO BPSI.MI
Italy's fourth-largest lender said on Friday it had received all required preliminary authorisations by the Bank of Italy to go ahead with its bid offer on rival Popolare di Sondrio.
ILLIMITY BANK ILTY.MI, BANCA IFIS IF.MI
Shareholders holding a 27.2% stake in Illimity Bank have entered a consultation agreement following an unsatisfactory bid from Banca Ifis, the bank said of Friday. The shareholders agreed not to acquire further illimity shares and to avoid actions triggering mandatory public tender offers.
TELECOM ITALIA TLIT.MI, POSTE ITALIANE PST.MI
A potential tie-up between French telecoms firm Iliad and Telecom Italia, in a move to consolidate Italy's telecoms sector, could create a group worth 25 billion euros and with a market share of 37.5% of the mobile sector, La Stampa reported on Sunday, without giving further details.

The state-controlled power grid operator plans to employ 1,400 people over the 5 years of its industrial plan ending in 2028, CEO Giuseppina di Foggia told Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara in a meeting, in which the executive called for greater collaboration between companies and schools, Il Messaggero reported on Sunday.

The shipbuilder is revising its business plan and will present an update at the end of the year, in light of Europe's boost to defence spending which is bringing the group to consider increasing its production capacity, CEO Pierroberto Folgiero told Corriere della Sera in an interview published on Sunday.

Goldman Sachs has received four offers for Iveco's Defence Vehicles division - from Leonardo LDOF.MI and Rheinmetall RHMG.DE jointly, Franco-German consortium KNDS, Spain's Indra, and Czech group CGS - Corriere della Sera reported on Sunday, adding that the bids are worth between 1.5 billion euros and 2 billion euros.
(*) Morgan Stanley on Monday cut the shares to 'underweight' from 'equal weight" and cut the target price to 15.60 euros from 16 euros.

The metal industry supplier said on Friday it will provide JFE Steel 5411.T with a complete new meltshop for its Kurashiki site, scheduled to start up in the second half of 2028, and will renew Godo Steel's big bar mill at Himeji Works.
