POLITICS

Israel's government ratified a ceasefire with the Palestinian militant group Hamas on Friday, clearing the way to suspend hostilities in Gaza within 24 hours and free Israeli hostages held there within 72 hours after that.

ECONOMY

ISTAT releases industrial output August data (0800 GMT).

DEBT

Treasury sells 9 billion euros 12-month BOT bills, subscriptions close at 0900 GMT.

The Economy Ministry said on Thursday it would offer up to 8.5 billion euros in four BTP bonds at an auction on October 14.

COMPANIES

BANKS

The European Commission is set to act against Rome's so-called 'golden power' legislation as part of a push against EU countries hampering bank consolidation in Europe, four sources with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters on Thursday.

Brussels will launch two separate proceedings under single market and merger rules respectively, they said, asking not to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter.

The decision to set a single 30% threshold for mandatory bids in listed companies, removing a lower threshold for larger companies is not aimed at or against any specific company, but simply aligns Italy with other main European countries, junior Treasury Minister Federico Freni said in an interview with Friday's Il Sole 24 Ore.

BANCA MONTE DEI PASCHI BMPS.MI, BANCO BMP BAMI.MI

The Tuscan bank is focused on completing its integration with Mediobanca MDBI.MI as quickly as possible, its CEO said on Thursday, when asked about potential interest in Banco BPM BAMI.MI.

Lovaglio added that the stake in insurer Generali GASI.MI after the acquisition of Mediobanca provides a welcome source of revenue diversification.

UNICREDIT CRDI.MI

S&P said on Thursday it upgraded its rating to 'A-', with a stable outlook.

The European Central Bank revised SREP requirements for both banks after BPER's takeover of its smaller peer. BPER's minimum CET 1 ratio was set at 9.4% versus the previous 9.32%, while Sondrio's was set at 9.36%, the banks said in two separate statements.

FERRARI RACE.MI

The luxury sportscar maker's shares fell more than 16% on Thursday on disappointment over its new long-term financial targets, taking the shine off the unveiling of the technology behind its first electric car. The group set a revenue target of 9 billion euros for 2030, an increase on its 7.1 billion euro forecast for this year, but a less ambitious figure than the market had been hoping for.

Consolidated global shipments for the three months ending in September were up 13% year-on-year to an estimated 1.3 million units, the automaker said on Friday. Most of the increase was driven by North America, but there was also growth in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, it added.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz vowed to do everything possible to ensure there is no hard cut-off for carbon dioxide-emitting cars from 2035 in the European Union after meeting with executives from top German automakers on Thursday.

ITALGAS IG.MI

Europe's biggest gas distributor said on Thursday it struck deals to sell assets in various parts of Italy to comply with antitrust conditions set by Italy's competition authority to clear its merger with 2i Rete Gas.

Assets will be sold, following a competitive process, to Ascopiave ASCI.MI, Erogasmet, GP Infrastrutture, ATI tra Plures, Estra and Centria for a total of around 253 million euros, it said.

Rothschild acted as advisor to Italgas.

The Italian food and beverages group on Friday confirmed plans for a London listing of its British subsidiary Princes, saying that the final offer price would be determined following a book building process and that trading was expected to begin  end-October.
