    BANCA CARIGE  CRGI.MI 
    The top investor in Carige  CRGI.MI  explained the reasons
why he failed to back a vital cash call at the troubled Italian
lender during a meeting with European Central Bank supervisors

(*) The ECB has asked the bank to launch the planned share sale
and to find a partner able to shore up the lender, Il Sole 24
Ore reported.
(*) According to Il Corriere della Sera, the bank could soon
hold a new shareholder meeting to approve the planned cash call.
(*) The ECB could ask healthy banks to became Carige's
shareholders converting a 320 million euros bond into equity, La
Repubblica reported, adding there will be more meetings in
Frankfurt on the future of the troubled lender in coming days.

    Italian investment bank Mediobanca MDBI.MI has earmarked 2
billion euros ($2.29 billion) for acquisitions in 2019, its
Chief Executive Alberto Nagel told daily La Stampa on Friday.

    Atlantia's motorway unit Autostrade per l'Italia has filed a
legal challenge against a decree that excludes it from

    Safilo and Alpargatas announced on Friday the early renewal

said on Friday it would launch a takeover to buy the company and
