J Sainsbury plc announces change of Non-Executive Director

J Sainsbury plc today announces that Mary Harris, Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Company's Remuneration Committee, will stand down from the Company's Board after nine years of service, at the conclusion of this year's Annual General Meeting, on 5July 2017. 
Susan Rice, Non-Executive Director, will be appointed Chair of the Remuneration Committee, in addition to her position as Senior Independent Director, on 5 July 2017. 
Commenting on today's announcement, David Tyler, Chairman of J Sainsbury plc, said:"I would like to thank Mary for her outstanding contribution to the Board over the last nine years. Mary is a highly valued member of the Board, as well as being a very effective Chair of the Company's Remuneration Committee. We have benefited greatly from Mary's experience, expertise and counsel and we wish her well for the future."
Mary Harris said:"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Sainsbury's Board. It has been a pleasure to have been part of one of the UK's most highly regarded companies and I wish everyone at Sainsbury's every success for the future."
