Ceconomy falls due to uncertainty over Austrian approval of JD.com deal

** Shares of Ceconomy CECG.DE are down 6% after the German electronics retailer said late on Friday that regulatory approval for its takeover by JD.com 9618.HK remains uncertain in Austria

** "With respect to the FDI (foreign direct investment) clearance in Austria, it is currently uncertain whether and, if so, when such clearance will be granted," Ceconomy said

** The Austrian ministry economy cites security concerns as the reason for the delay in the FDI decision

** Ceconomy operates 50 MediaMarkt stores in Austria

** The $2.5 billion deal has received FDI clearances in Italy and France, and Ceconomy expects to get them from Germany and Spain soon

** Shares of Ceconomy are on track for their worst day since May 2025 if the losses hold
