The firm behind Dr Pepper drinks is nearing an $18 billion deal to buy Dutch coffee company JDE Peet’s. That’s according to Wall Street Journal reports on Sunday. JDE Peet’s known for Peet's Coffee and international brands like L'Or and Douwe Egberts - is currently valued at about $15 billion. Keurig Dr Pepper is worth more than three times that figure. After combining, the report says the two firms will separate the coffee and beverage units. Neither company would immediately comment on the report. JDE Peet’s lifted its annual forecasts last month, after beating expectations for half-yearly results. That’s thanks to sales growth that defied already high coffee prices. Keurig Dr Pepper last year bought a 60% stake in energy-drink maker Ghost for almost $1 billion. It plans to purchase the rest in 2028 as part of moves to enhance its portfolio of drinks.
