US FAA approves transfer of 22 slots at New York LaGuardia to JetBlue WASHINGTON, Oct 6 (Reuters) - The Federal Aviation Administration said on Tuesday it had approved JetBlue Airways JBLU.O acquisition of 22 slots at New York's LaGuardia airport from defunct Spirit Airlines.
The airline agreed to purchase the slots for $58.5 million in June, according to court documents. The FAA said as part of its approval JetBlue is barred from trading or leasing the slots through April 2028 and it will waiver the use-or-lose requirements through April in order for JetBlue to start up service at new markets or add service.
