S.Korean airlines rally on hopes of easing tensions with Japan

** Korean Air Lines  003490.KS , South Korea's top airline,
rises as much as 5.6%, its budget affiliate Jin Air  272450.KS 
gains 5.8% and JejuAir  089590.KS , South Korea's top budget
airline, surges 8.3% 
    ** YS Jung, an analyst at NH Investment & Securities, says
the planned visit by South Korean Prime Minister to Japan raises
hopes of a thaw in South Korea's relations with Japan

    ** Relations between the neighbours are arguably at their
lowest ebb since they normalised ties in 1965, after South
Korea's Supreme Court last year ordered two Japanese companies
to compensate some wartime labourers.

in the wake of consumer boycott of tours to Japan sparked by the
latter's export curbs   
    ** Jung says it will be difficult to fully recover South
Korean tours to Japan given slowing growth even before the
diplomatic row 
    ** Signs of progress in the Sino-U.S. trade standoff also
lifts outlook for cargo demand for Korean Air Lines, Jung says
    ** U.S. President Donald Trump outlines the first phase of a
deal to end a trade war with China and suspended a threatened
tariff hike, though officials on both sides said much work
needed to be done
