India's JSW Steel beats quarterly profit view on firmer prices, steady volumes July 17 (Reuters) - JSW Steel JSTL.NS, India's top steelmaker, reported a bigger-than-expected rise in first-quarter profit on Friday, as firmer domestic steel prices and resilient volumes outweighed pressure from higher coking coal costs.
The Mumbai-based firm's consolidated net profit more than doubled to 46.51 billion rupees ($482.79 million) in the quarter ended June 30.
Analysts had expected, on average, 31.11 billion rupees, per data compiled by LSEG.
