RNS Number : 1824F Judges Scientific PLC 16 April 2025
Judges Scientific plc
("Judges Scientific", "Judges" or the "Company")
Board Change and formation of Executive Committee
Judges Scientific, the group focused on acquiring and developing companies in
the scientific instrument sector, announces the following change to the Board
and management structure of the Group.
Mark Lavelle, Chief Operating Officer, has advised the Board of his intention
to retire by September 2026, when he will be 68. As part of his move towards
retirement, Mark has decided to step down from the Board at the Annual General
Meeting on 22 May 2025 and not offer himself for re-election.
Mark will be stepping down from his individual subsidiary responsibilities,
enabling him to focus on helping all the Group's companies further improve
their operational, analytical, talent development, and international
capabilities.
Additionally, the Group is evolving its internal structure by forming an
Executive Committee, reporting to the Board. The Executive Committee will be
responsible for the management of the Group and will include the Executive
Directors and further key members of the Company's senior leadership team as
required. Mark will be a key member of the Executive Committee until his
retirement.
Mark Lavelle, Chief Operating Officer, commented: "In my seven and a half
years at Judges so far, it has been a real privilege to be able to combine the
knowledge gained in my degree and early career in Science and Instrumentation,
with the commercial focus that I developed such a passion for over the 25
years before Judges: finding, leading and enhancing wonderful, niche,
independent SMEs. To do so under the scrupulously honest and ethical
leadership of David Cicurel, alongside our outstanding developing Executive
team, and with such a wonderful group of staff at all levels across the Group,
has only added to the pleasure that every day of the COO role has brought me."
David Cicurel, Chief Executive Officer, commented: "Mark has had an enormous
influence on the development and success of the Group's excellent portfolio of
businesses and I, on behalf of the entire Board, thank him for his decisive
contribution over much of the last decade. We are delighted that he will
continue to contribute to the ongoing performance of the Group's businesses
and their growth trajectory via our newly constituted Executive Committee."
