Table: Japan nuclear operations: Kansai Elec restarts Ohi No.3 reactor

TOKYO, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Kansai Electric Power 9503.T restarted the 1,180 megawatt (MW) No.3 reactor at its Ohi nuclear power station in western Japan after completing scheduled maintenance and refuelling, a company spokesperson said on Friday.

The restart on Thursday ended a closure that began on June 1.

The utility also plans to restart the 870-MW No.4 reactor at its Takahama nuclear power station in western Japan in late September, which has been offline for a scheduled maintenance since June 18, the spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, Kyushu Electric Power 9508.T shut the 1,180-MW No.4 reactor at its Genkai nuclear power station in southern Japan on July 27 for scheduled maintenance and refuelling, a company spokesperson said.

As of Friday, Japan has 12 reactors in operation, with a combined capacity of 11,203 MW.

Many companies are undergoing a re-licensing process to meet stricter safety standards implemented after the 2011 Fukushima disaster. Prior to the disaster, they operated 54 reactors.

The table below shows the status of Japan's nuclear power plants.

The regional utilities are: Chubu Electric Power 9502.T, Chugoku Electric Power 9504.T, Hokkaido Electric Power 9509.T, Hokuriku Electric Power 9505.T, Kansai Electric Power 9503.T, Kyushu Electric Power 9508.T, Shikoku Electric Power 9507.T, Tohoku Electric Power 9506.T and Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco) 9501.T.

In the table, the companies are referred to by their regional names.

Japan Atomic Power Company (Japco), a nuclear energy company, owns two reactors.
