TOKYO, June 3 (Reuters) - Kansai Electric Power 9503.T restarted the 870 megawatt (MW) No.3 reactor at its Takahama nuclear power station on Sunday after scheduled maintenance and refuelling, while shutting the 1,180-MW No.3 reactor at its Ohi nuclear power station, a company spokesperson said on Tuesday.
The Takahama No.3 reactor in western Japan had been shut since February 22. The utility plans to restart the Ohi No.3 reactor in western Japan in mid-August, the spokesperson said.
The company also restarted the 826 MW No. 3 reactor at its Mihama nuclear power station in western Japan on May 21 after shutting it down for maintenance on March 2.
As of Tuesday, Japan has 12 reactors in operation, with a combined capacity of 10,893 MW.
Many companies are undergoing a re-licensing process to meet stricter safety standards implemented after the 2011 Fukushima disaster. Prior to the disaster, they operated 54 reactors.
The table below shows the status of Japan's nuclear power plants.
The regional utilities are: Chubu Electric Power 9502.T, Chugoku Electric Power 9504.T, Hokkaido Electric Power 9509.T, Hokuriku Electric Power 9505.T, Kansai Electric Power 9503.T, Kyushu Electric Power 9508.T, Shikoku Electric Power 9507.T, Tohoku Electric Power 9506.T and Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco) 9501.T.
In the table, the companies are referred to by their regional names.
Japan Atomic Power Company (Japco), a nuclear energy company, owns two reactors.
