** Shares of military solutions provider KBR Inc KBR.N rise 1.7% to $51.94 premarket

** KBR says Department of Defense has awarded it $229 million contract to provide research and analysis for U.S. Army's CH-47 Chinook helicopter systems over period of five years

     ** KBR will provide logistics management, testing and life cycle analysis to refine and improve helicopter's sustainability initiatives

** CH-47 Chinook helicopter is critical part of U.S. Army fleet, used for troop and cargo transport, medical evacuation, search and rescue, disaster relief and combat operations

** KBR gained 3.6% in 2024
