Sources have said the European Union will show unconditional antitrust approval. The deal is among the biggest in the sector and would bring together brands ranging from M&Ms and Snickers to Pop-Tarts and Kellogg's cereals. It's already been approved without any conditions by US authorities. The European Commission warned in June the deal could lead to price hikes. It also said it could boost Mars' negotiating power with retailers, but sources said it hadn't found enough legal grounds to demand concessions. The commission declined to comment, as did Mars and Kellanova. An EU decision on the deal is due by mid-December.
