CEZ says nuclear plant tender should not be delayed for long

PRAGUE, Dec 9 (Reuters) - Czech utility CEZ said on
Wednesday it was ready to open a tender for a supplier of a new
nuclear power plant but was waiting for instructions from the
state over whom to invite into the process.
A state committee for a new nuclear plant broke off a
meeting on Wednesday to discuss further whether, or to what
extent, to allow bidders from Russia and China to take part in
the process due to security concerns, or whether to delay the
process until after an election late next year. urn:newsml:reuters.com:*:nL8N2IP3FT
"From the point of energy security, we consider it
fundamental that the tender is not delayed for more than the
minimum necessary time," CEZ said in an emailed statement.
"That could have a serious impact on meeting European
climate goals that are constantly being tightened, and would
threaten the future sufficient supply of electricity for the
Czech economy and citizens."
