** Shares of gold and silver miners gain, tracking advances in precious metal prices GOL/

** Spot gold XAU= up 5.1% at $4,901.75/ounce, up from Monday's low of $4,403.24/ounce, but still trading below last week's record high of $5,594.82/ounce

** Spot silver XAG= up 9.4% at $86.92/ounce, after a record 27% decline on Friday and a further 6% fall on Monday

** Gold and silver prices rebound sharply, with bullion on track for its biggest daily rise since November 2008

** Top miners: Newmont NEM.N up 4%; Barrick Mining ABX.TO up 3.9%

** South African miners: Gold Fields GFI.N up 5%; AngloGold Ashanti AU.N adds 5.5%; Harmony Gold HMY.N gains 1.4%; Sibanye Stillwater SBSW.N rises 2.8%

** Silver miners: Hecla Mining HL.N up 6.9%; Coeur Mining CDE.N rises 5%

** Canadian miners: Endeavour Silver EDR.TO rises 5%; Silvercorp Metals SVM.TO up 6%; Agnico Eagle Mines AEM.TO adds 2.8%; Kinross Gold K.TO gains 3.6%
