August 19 (Reuters) - The main U.S. stock indexes recovered on Wednesday after a technology-driven slump in the previous session as government bond yields retreated from multi-decade highs and investors assessed a slew of corporate updates. .N
     
At  11:30 EDT, the Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI was up 0.38% at 53,547.34. The S&P 500 .SPX was up 0.51% at 7,730.32, and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC was up 0.42% at 26,399.66.

** Estee Lauder Companies Inc EL.N, up 16.7%
** Merck & Co Inc MRK.N, up 11.0%
