** Shares of U.S. department store chain Kohl's  see-saw in volatile early trading

** Co names retail veteran Michael Bender as its permanent CEO, having served as the interim chief since May

** Bender, is the fourth full-time CEO in three years at KSS, and has doubled down on leveraging the company's partnerships, as well as streamlining its operations through store closures and job cuts

** Bender replaced Ashley Buchanan, former CEO who was fired for undisclosed personal relationship with a vendor whose deals he had aggressively pursued, barely 100 days into the role

** Up to last close, KSS stock up ~12% this year
