The S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average retreated after touching record
highs on Tuesday, hit by dour forecasts from retailers Home Depot and Kohl's.

    At 10:45 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was down 0.26% at
27,963.66. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 0.08% at 3,119.59 and the Nasdaq
Composite  .IXIC  was up 0.16% at 8,563.32.
