Kyverna up after its stiff-person syndrome drug receives FDA's RMAT designation

** Shares of biopharmaceutical company Kyverna Therapeutics
 KYTX.O rise nearly 9% to $10.8 in after-hours trading
    ** Company's chimeric antigen receptor T-cell product
candidate, KYV-101, gets the U.S. FDA Regenerative Medicine
Advanced Therapy (RMAT) designation
** KYV-101 to be used for the treatment of patients
suffering from refractory stiff-person syndrome, a rare,
progressive neurological autoimmune disorder impacting the
ability to walk or move
** KYTX says RMAT designation will allow it to "receive
expert guidance on efficient drug development and use of
surrogate endpoints from senior FDA officials"
** Drugs are eligible for RMAT designation if they are a
regenerative medicine therapy, if the drug is used for treating
a serious or life-threatening disease or condition and if
preliminary clinical evidence shows the drug has potential to
address unmet medical needs
** CAR-T therapies involve extraction of a type of white
blood cells or T-cells, re-engineering and infusing them back in
the body to attack cancer
