** Shares of drug developer Lantern Pharma LTRN.O rise 11.50% to $2.33 premarket
** Co and its unit Starlight Therapeutics say they received authorization from the U.S. FDA for early-stage trial of their experimental cancer drug, STAR-001, in children with brain and other cancers related to the central nervous system
** The study will test STAR-001 on its own and in combination with spironolactone, an older medicine, in hard-to-treat childhood brain cancers, such as ATRT, DIPG, glioblastoma, medulloblastoma and ependymoma
** Co says the trial is planned with POETIC, a group of major children's cancer centers in the United States, Canada and Israel
** Says trial to enroll about 18 to 42 patients aged one to 17, though co still needs more funding to move ahead
** LTRN shares were down more than 5% in 2025
