Germany's Wacker Chemie to raise polymer prices due to Iran war (updated)

Adds background, details on peer Lanxess from paragraph 4

March 13 (Reuters) - German chemical company Wacker Chemie WCHG.DE said on Friday that it will raise prices for polymers products, citing higher raw materials and logistics costs due to the Iran war.

From April 1, the company will significantly raise its prices for polymer dispersions, resins and dispersible polymer powders, it said in a statement.

"The extent of the necessary price adjustment depends on where the respective product is sourced and on existing contractual agreements," it added.

The conflict in the Middle East is adding pressure on Germany's chemicals industry, which has been struggling with high production costs, heavy bureaucracy, weak economic growth and U.S. import tariffs.

Peer Lanxess LXSG.DE said this week it would increase prices by 15%-50% on functional additives for tyres and specialty rubbers, as well as on Hexanediol, used for coatings, fibres and polyurethanes, by about 20%.
