Las Vegas Sands taps insider Patrick Dumont as CEO

Feb 13 (Reuters) - Las Vegas Sands LVS.N said on Friday Patrick Dumont will take charge as its chief executive on March 1, succeeding Robert Goldstein who will move to a senior advisor role.

The Nevada-based company operates integrated resorts and casinos, such as Marina Bay Sands in Singapore and six properties in Macau including The Venetian Macau.

Outgoing CEO Goldstein, a longtime veteran of the casino industry, took the helm at the company in 2021 and served on its board from 2015. He joined Las Vegas Sands in 1995.

U.S. casino operators are navigating a challenging earnings season as softer results from parts of their land-based business are being offset by continued strength in online betting and digital casino gaming, which is helping steady overall revenue.

The CEO-designate Dumont joined Las Vegas Sands in 2010 and is currently the company's president and chief operating officer. On Friday, he was also appointed chairman of Sands China Ltd, the company's Hong Kong-listed unit.

Las Vegas Sands reported a rise in fourth-quarter profit last month on strong demand from its Macau operations.
