WALL STREET INDEXES LOOK TO EXTEND RECORDS

Wall Street's three major indexes were gaining modestly on Friday after the S&P 500 , the Dow and the Nasdaq Composite all ended Thursday's session with record high closes.

The Russell 2000 .RUT slipped a little in early trading, the day after it registered its first record closing high since November 2021.

Among the 11 S&P sectors consumer discretionary .SPLRCD was the biggest gainer with Tesla TSLA.O leading the charge. And with oil prices slipping energy .SPNY was the biggest decliner.

Also losing ground on Friday was the PHLX housing index .HGX, with homebuilder Lennar LEN.N leading losses, down 1.7% after its quarterly financial update disappointed. Some other homebuilders and building materials companies followed suit, with LGI Homes LGIH.O off 0.7% and Weyerhaeuser WY.N down more than 1% .
