India's FLY91 orders 40 ATR aircraft for around $1 billion
India's FLY91 orders 40 ATR aircraft for around $1 billion Sept 3 (Reuters) - Indian regional airline FLY91 has ordered 40 ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft for around $1 billion, ATR — a joint venture between Leonardo LDOF.MI and Airbus AIR.PA — said on Thursday, in what it described as its largest contract in a decade.
The order is the largest secured by ATR in a decade and comes as India's regional aviation market expands, boosting demand for turboprop aircraft on short-haul routes.
• FLY91 currently operates six ATR aircraft; the order will grow its fleet to 46
• Deliveries are scheduled between 2027 and 2032
• The order brings ATR's 2026 total to 54 aircraft, already surpassing its full-year 2025 net orders of 50
• Around 70 ATR aircraft already fly in India, operated by IndiGo, Alliance Air and FLY91
