The following factors could affect Italian markets on Tuesday

LEONARDO LDOF.MI
Plans for the new Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) fighter jet to be in service by 2035 will not change even if a new country joins the British, Italian and Japanese programme, the chief executive of the joint venture designing the plane - formed by BAE Systems BAES.L, Leonardo and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries 7011.T - said on Monday.
(*) The Italian defence group said on Tuesday it had signed a deal with Saudi Arabia's The Helicopter Company for the supply of 11 helicopters to be delivered in 2027-2028. According to several Italian newspapers, the contract is worth around €200 million.

Norway's Vaar Energi VAR.OL, majority owned by Eni, said on Tuesday it would buy smaller Oslo-listed rival BlueNord BNOR.OL, forming what will be Europe's largest independent producer of oil and gas.

MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA (MPS) BMPS.MI, BANCO BPM BAMI.MI, INTESA SANPAOLO ISP.MI 
According to MF daily, the CEOs of Banco BPM and MPS, Giuseppe Castagna and Luigi Lovaglio, could present a merger plan by August 6, when MPS' board is due to approve H1 results. The merger would be presented as an alternative to Intesa Sanpaolo's takeover bid for the Tuscan bank, with shareholder approval as early as September and a completed transaction between October and November.

(*) GENERALI GASI.MI, MPS
Edizione, the holding company of the Benetton family, has set the terms of the payout agreement with Giuliana Benetton and her four children, who will receive €3.5 billion to relinquish their stake in the holding, la Repubblica and Il Sole 24 Ore dailies reported on Tuesday. The payment will be made mainly in cash over a four-year period, between 2027 and 2030.
Edizione has a 4.86% stake in Generali and a 1.45% stake in MPS.

The acceptance period for the takeover bid on the pharmaceutical company will begin on August 31 and end on October 15, the bidders announced on Monday.

FINCANTIERI FCT.MI
Portugal has decided to buy three frigates built by the Italian shipbuilder, Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Monday. A source with knowledge of the matter estimated the deal with Portugal to be worth €3 billion.

UNICREDIT CRDI.MI
Fitch has affirmed UniCredit's ratings following its offer for Commerzbank CBKG.DE and said a successful takeover could lead to the bank being rated two notches above Italy's sovereign rating, one notch higher than at present, UniCredit said on Monday.

STELLANTIS STLAM.MI 
The automaker on Monday announced new chiefs for the Jeep and Ram brands.

(*) THE ITALIAN SEA GROUP TISGR.MI
Founder and majority shareholder Giovanni Costantino, who resigned as chairman and CEO on Monday, said in an interview published on Tuesday by Il Sole 24 Ore that evidence of the actions behind the company's current crisis will be made avalaible to prosecutors on Tuesday, 
Costantino said the independent investigation conducted by KPMG found evidence of falsified bank statements, signatures and other documents amounting to a a sort of "parallel company," which kept the board of directors in the dark about the growing financial difficulties of the group.

IPO, GIUNTI PSYCHOMETRICS
The Italian Stock Exchange on Monday approved the listing of Giunti Psychometrics' common shares on Euronext Growth Milan, the company said. The offering price was set at €4.50 per share, with a post-money market cap of approximately €60 million. Trading is scheduled to begin on Wednesday.
