Leonardo says non-binding talks with Rheinmetall on IDV continue, other suitors emerge
Leonardo says non-binding talks with Rheinmetall on IDV continue, other suitors emerge ROME, July 31 (Reuters) - Italian defence group Leonardo LDOF.MI is continuing non-binding talks with Germany's Rheinmetall RHMG.DE on the possible sale of a part of recently acquired Iveco Defence Vehicles, top executives said on Friday.
Group CFO Giuseppe Aurilio said there had been a gentlemen's agreement, but nothing formally binding, with Rheinmetall, describing a sale as one of several options for the unit rather than the only one under consideration.
Speaking in a post-results call, he noted that IDV's truck business was growing and profitable, putting Leonardo in a better position to weigh different alternatives.
Chief Executive Lorenzo Mariani added that the group had received enquiries from other parties interested in a potential acquisition of part of IDV.
