Shares of Samsung, LG rise on US-Vietnam trade pact

** Shares of major South Korean manufacturers with factories in Vietnam jump following a trade deal between the U.S. and the Southeast Asian country

** The U.S. lowers its tariffs on Vietnam to 20% from 46% proposed in early April

** South Korea's Samsung Electronics 005930.KS rises 3.6% to its highest level since September 30, 2024 and Samsung Electro-Mechanics 009150.KS jumps 5.2%

** "Stocks are pricing in relief that the impact of tariffs will be smaller than feared," says Park Sang-hyun, economist, iM Securities

** LG Electronics 066570.KS gains 1.7%, LG Display 034220.KS climbs 3.7%, while LG Innotek 011070.KS adds 1.2%

** The benchmark KOSPI .KS11 index rises 1%
