    THE GLOBE AND MAIL
    **Montreal textile manufacturing startup Sheertex is
slashing 40% of its work force, blaming uncertainty over the
threat of U.S. tariffs for exacerbating its already tenuous
financial situation.
    
    **Lightspeed Commerce  LSPD.TO  has abandoned a potential
sale process and will instead buy back $400 million worth of
shares, equal to roughly 18% of its float. 

    **Independent investment dealer Origin Merchant Partners is
set to expand the services it offers to company founders by
acquiring boutique advisory firm CCC Investment Banking.
