COMPANIES

ENI ENI.MI

The group said on Wednesday it signed a new 25-year contract with Venezuela's PDVSA to develop oilfield Junin 5. Under the deal, which makes the Italian group the sole operator of Junin 5, Eni and PDVSA will invest $1.5 billion a year to develop the field, targeting a production of 400,000 barrels a day by the end of this decade, two sources said.

The gaming and betting firm's stock market plunge on Wednesday, following the announcement of its takeover of Spanish rival CIRSA CIRSA.MC is "mainly technical", CEO Guglielmo Angelozzi said in an interview with Thursday's Il Sole 24 Ore. Given the all-share structure of the deal, traders are shorting the acquirer's stock and buying the target's shares, he said.

(*) SAIPEM SPMI.MI

According to Thursday's MF daily, the EU has triggered a "stop-the-clock" procedure in its review of the Saipem-Subsea7 merger while seeking additional information, potentially jeopardising the December 16 deadline for its antitrust investigation. The companies still target completion of the merger in the second half of 2026, the newspaper added.

(*) TECHNOPROBE TPRO.MI, DIASORIN DIASI.MI

The semiconductor testing company is to join Italy's blue-chip FTSE MIB index on September 21, replacing diagnostics group Diasorin.

Binding offers for Banca del Mezzogiorno (BdM) must be submitted by September 18, Il Sole 24 Ore reported on Thursday. Potential bidders include Credit Agricole CAGR.PA, a consortium led by Iccrea and Banca Popolare di Puglia e Basilicata, Credem EMBI.MI and UniCredit CRDI.MI. The Treasury aims to complete the sale by year-end.

MF daily reported that UniCredit is also considering bidding for Cassa di Risparmio di Orvieto, which MCC has put back up for sale after talks with Banca del Fucino collapsed. Other potential bidders include Banco Desio DESI.MI, CF+, Credem and Credit Agricole, the newspaper said.

(*) MEDIOBANCA MDBI.MI, BANCA MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA BMPS.MI

The European Central Bank is set to approve by mid-September the merger of investment bank Mediobanca in MPS, MF wrote on Thursday. The paper also said MPS is expected to call a board meeting shortly, possibly by September 10, to fill two empty board seats after the ECB gave its green light to the appointment of Gianluca Brancadoro and Alessandro Caltagirone.

INTERCOS ICOS.MI

(*) Shareholders in the Italian beauty manufacturer sold around 6.4 million shares, representing around a 6.2% stake, through an accelerated bookbuild at a price of €12.7 per share in a deal valued at about €81 million, a bookrunner said on Thursday.
