April 27 (Reuters) - French laser maker Lumibird LBIRD.PA on Monday posted a 0.7% rise in its first quarter revenue to 49.7 million euros ($58.3 million) boosted by surging defence and space demand, though a weak medical performance tempered the result.
The company designs and manufactures laser systems for defence, space and industrial markets, as well as laser-based medical devices used in ophthalmology and cardiovascular treatment.
The company's defence and space business quarterly revenue jumped 21.6% to 12.8 million euros, driven by the roll-out of multi-year contracts and order book delivery
The company said medical revenue, its largest segment, fell 9.2% to 23.2 million euros, hurt by supply chain disruptions and delays induced by geopolitical tensions
Lumibird confirmed its full-year outlook
"The medical division anticipates a return to growth in the first half of the year, with an expected acceleration in the second half," CEO Marc Le Flohic said in a press release
Stripping out the impact of M&A and currency movements, total revenue grew 4.1% compared with a 0.7% rise on a reported basis
