Italy - Factors to watch on June 17

The following factors could affect Italian markets on Wednesday.

ECONOMY

Italy's business lobby Confindustria has called for emergency action from the government to speed up the roll-out of renewable energy in the country, which is grappling with much higher power costs than in most of Europe.


COMPANIES

UNICREDIT CRDI.MI

Italy's second-biggest bank said that shares tendered under its Commerzbank bid stood at 12.41% at the usual 1200 GMT cut-off on Tuesday.

This gives UniCredit an overall holding of 42.4% of the German lender.

Italy's Banco BPM and state-owned bad loan manager AMCO are studying a plan to stabilise BFF Bank under which the public servicer would take over the factoring servicing arm, while Banco BPM would acquire payments and depositary activities, MF daily reported on Wednesday. It added that the proposal would effectively split BFF's business lines as part of efforts to shore up the lender, with a supervisory decision pending.

Italy's government has given conditional approval to the joint venture between the state-controlled defence group Leonardo and Turkey's Baykar to produce unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), a source told Reuters on Wednesday.

The Italian engineering group said on Wednesday its unit Nextchem was awarded a licensing agreement for a biomass-to-syngas section of a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant in Canada.

Deutsche Bank cut the rating of the medical diagnostics group to 'sell' from 'hold' and cut the target price to €58 euros from €62.

Aeffe's Moschino creative director Davide Appiolaza has left his position at the fashion house, with former Sunnei founders Loris Messina and Simone Rizzo seen as frontrunners to replace him, MF daily reported on Wednesday. The move is part of a broader restructuring at Aeffe, tied to a potential sale of the group to private equity fund Oxy Capital, the report added.

The Italian stationery maker said on Wednesday it placed over 4.2 million shares, or 7%, of India's DOMS, through an accelerated bookbuilding it had announced on Tuesday, raising the equivalent of about €85.26 million.


M&A, SAC

The operator of Sicily's Catania airport said on Tuesday it had received 14 expressions of interest in buying a majority stake in the company. Sources close to the situation told Reuters that Australia's Macquarie MQG.AX, Italian investment fund F2i and infrastructure group Mundys are among the companies who have expressed interest.

(*) IPO - ILLYCAFFE

The Italian premium coffee maker is set to list on the New York bourse by the end of the year or at the latest in the first quarter of 2027, La Stampa reported on Wednesday. With support from three financial advisors, the group is monitoring the most suitable market conditions for its debut, the daily added, citing financial and legal sources close to the matter.
