India's Mahindra Logistics posts six-fold jump in profit from previous quarter

April 23 (Reuters) - India's Mahindra Logistics MALO.NS on Thursday posted a six-fold sequential rise in fourth-quarter profit, aided by stronger performance in its contract logistics business and progress in turning around its express operations.

The logistics provider's consolidated net profit rose to 201.9 million rupees ($2.15 million) for the three months ended March, from 32.5 million rupees in the previous quarter.

Here are the details:

This was the company's second profit after returning to the black in the December quarter, which ended a loss-making run from October 2023

Indian firms are strengthening domestic supply chains and inventories amid global trade disruptions linked to the Iran war, supporting demand for logistics companies.

Revenue from operations stood at 17.91 billion rupees, versus 18.98 billion rupees in the previous quarter

The company said meaningful progress in turning around its express operations supported performance during the quarter

The supply-chain management segment stayed the primary growth driver, contributing about 94% to the topline, with a revenue of 16.81 billion rupees

Last-mile delivery business turned profitable at the operating level, with an EBITDA of 22 million rupees
