    - BHP Group  BHP.AX  is walking away from its roughly $50
billion takeover bid for Anglo American  AAL.L  after failing to
convince its rival to further engage in talks on what would have
been the largest-ever mining deal.
    
    - ConocoPhillips COP.N   has agreed to acquire Marathon Oil
 MRO.N  in an all-stock deal valued at $17.1 billion in a bid to
catch up with rivals as drillers race to secure new oil and gas
wells.
    
    - Google GOOGL.O  has committed $2 billion in investments in
Malaysia, including building its first data center, a new Google
Cloud region and further developing artificial intelligence.
    
    - Meta Platforms  META.O  said its security team took down a
network of hundreds of fake accounts on Facebook and Instagram
linked to an Israeli technology firm that apparently used
AI-generated comments to praise Israel and criticize campus
antisemitism.
