Clsa Sees Limited Hit To Hospitals From India's Cancer: drug margin cap
BUZZ-CLSA sees limited hit to hospitals from India's cancer-drug margin cap ** India's move to cap margins on anti-cancer drugs at 30% could lower prices by 20%-70% and save patients about 25 billion rupees (about $261 million) annually, CLSA says
** The measure targets excessive mark-ups by distributors, retailers and hospitals, with limited direct impact on drugmakers, brokerage says
** CLSA expects the impact on revenue at Apollo Hospitals APLH.NS, Max Healthcare MAXE.NS and Medanta GLOH.NS to be minimal given their diversified operations
** The brokerage, however, estimates a temporary 2%-5% margin impact for hospitals as oncology drugs are typically high-margin products
** CLSA says operators may seek to offset the hit by raising prices across other services
