Deals of the day-Mergers and acquisitions

       Dec 8 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers,
acquisitions and disposals were reported by 2100 GMT, on Friday:
    
    ** LVMH  LVMH.PA  signed a deal to sell a majority stake in
the parent company of its cruise retail business to a group of
investors led by Jim Gissy, but will remain an "important
minority shareholder" in the new entity, the luxury group said.
    
    ** The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has sent a second
request to Chevron  CVX.N  and Hess  HES.N  for additional
information and documentary materials related to their $53

    ** U.S. industrial firm Honeywell  HON.O  said it would buy
air conditioner maker Carrier's  CARR.N  security unit for $4.95
billion in cash to bulk up its building safety business where

    ** LyondellBasell  LYB.N  said it has entered into an
agreement to sell its production facility and associated
business at Bayport, Texas to chemical maker INEOS Oxide for

    ** The Italian Treasury is not working to cut its stake in
postal service Poste Italiane  PST.MI , a ministry spokesperson
said, responding to a newspaper report that it could sell its

    ** India's Max Healthcare Institute  MAXE.NS  said it would
buy Sahara Hospital in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh for an enterprise
value of 9.40 billion rupees ($112.76 million), as it looks to

    ** Greece and Paneuropean Oil & Industrial Holdings will
jointly sell a stake of 11% in Greece's biggest oil refiner

    ** Santos Ltd shares jumped on the prospect of a possible
$52 billion merger with bigger Australian rival Woodside, but
