May 19 (Reuters) - Mayr Melnhof Karton AG  MMKV.VI : 
    * Q1 consolidated sales rose by 7.9 pct to 576.0 million 
euros ($645.58 million) 
    * Q1 operating profit up 8.7 pct to 55.2 million euros 
    * Q1 profit for the period went up by 11.0 pct to 39.4 
million euros  
    * Says visibility of demand on cartonboard and folding 
carton markets has become noticeably more short-term and the 
situation ongoing competitive 
    * Says strong profit development in the first quarter will 
be a challenge for the subsequent quarters
